The short film "I Am The Bride" is already competing in major festivals around the world, garnering its first accolades in a very short time.
Its first selection came on May 28, 2026, at the New York Monthly Film Festival, where it placed fourth. Shortly thereafter, the film made a major leap by participating in the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival; not only was it selected, but it also swept multiple awards.
Notable awards won include: Best Fantasy Film, Best First-Time Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Ensemble, Best Special Makeup, Best Supporting Actor, Best Duo, and Best Original Score.
Carlos KRL Mera took home the awards for Best First-Time Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay. Wilson Fernando Castillo won Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Jacinto Rodríguez won Best Original Score; Frances Cruz won Best Actress and Best Special Effects Makeup; and Harry Pino won Best Supporting Actor. The rest of the cast and crew—including Ariana Alfano, Herminzul Ayala, Dolores Tobón, Mary Rivas, Federico Vázquez, Jerly Álava, and Marcos Valladares—were also recognized in categories such as Best Ensemble and Best Acting Duo.
The biggest news arrived on June 7, when "I Am The Bride" was confirmed as an official selection for the Cannes World Film Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals on the circuit. The film is competing in the categories of Best Paranormal Film, Best First-Time Filmmaker, Best Ensemble, and Best Soundtrack. The festival, which has been running for six years and is IMDb-qualified, has previously honored major stars such as Bruce Willis and Johnny Depp. Winners receive the iconic Golden Firefly—a gold-plated dragonfly featuring a luminescent star that changes color in the dark.
Furthermore, this June 8th, the production team is celebrating a special milestone: they have achieved a second sell-out for the premiere taking place on July 8th at Teaneck Cinemas in New Jersey. At the same time, the official Instagram account, @iamthebridefilm, has reached the 400-follower mark.
As part of the promotional campaign, the film’s singles are being released every Friday in June. "I Am The Bride (La Novia)" is already out; "She Washin You" arrives this Friday, June 12, 2026, followed by "La novia los vio" and "La novia de Puerto." Subsequently, the first part of the album featuring KRL’s original songs will be released, followed by the complete soundtrack composed by Jacinto Rodríguez.
“I Am The Bride” continues to generate buzz. We will keep you updated on its festival run and all future achievements.
